New resources on the American Dream and Promise Act of 2019 and Multilingual TPS Resources

We have some new resources on the American Dream and Promise Act of 2019 (HR 6) to share:

1) An FAQ<https://www.nilc.org/faq-american-dream-and-promise-act-of-2019/> on the American Dream and Promise Act of 2019 (HR 6)

2) A side-by-side comparison<https://www.nilc.org/issues/immigration-reform-and-executive-actions/daca-and-dream-act-2019-and-adpa2019/> of DACA, the Dream Act of 2019 (S 874)* and the American Dream and Promise Act of 2019 (HR 6)

3) A side-by-side comparison<https://www.nilc.org/tps-american-promise-act-2017-adpa2019-secure-act2019/> of TPS, the American Promise Act of 2017 (HR 4253), the American Dream and Promise Act of 2019 (HR 6) and the SECURE Act of 2019 (S 879)*

*Note that while the final text of Dream Act of 2019 has not been posted on www.Congress.gov, the press release<https://www.durbin.senate.gov/newsroom/press-releases/graham-durbin-reintroduce-dream-act> announcing its introduction referred to it as identical to Dream Act of 2017. Similarly, while final text of the SECURE Act of 2019 has not been posted, the press release<https://www.vanhollen.senate.gov/news/press-releases/van-hollen-cardin-feinstein-kaine-introduce-legislation-to-protect-tps-recipients> announcing its introduction last week linked to this text<https://www.vanhollen.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/SECURE%202019.pdf>. Once final language is posted to www.Congress.gov<http://www.Congress.gov>, we will be sure to do a final comparison to ensure there are no discrepancies)

As TPS program terminations have continued and communities have been made vulnerable to deportation and interruption of their ability to work, the Informed Immigrant team has been working hard to pull together existing resources on TPS from organizations as well as a practical guide for TPS holders. This collection and guide launched today in four languages. You can find more on that resource below - we encourage everyone to share with their networks and reach out if you have any questions!

This week

  • With generous feedback from contributors including Undocublack, CLINIC, Working Families United, and MTA Visions, InformedImmigrant.com / InmigranteInformado.com has published *NEW* multilingual resources for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) holders and their families, co-workers, and others looking to support TPS holders in a time of uncertainty.

The new resources include a guide with Frequently Asked Questions in English, Spanish, Haitian Creole and Arabic, as well as a TPS Resource Library with fact sheets and information from more than ten organizations including CLINIC, LiUNA!, MIRA Coalition, AIC, UNIDOSUS, and ILRC.

The resources can be accessed at www.InformedImmigrant.com/Guides/TPS/ and www.inmigranteinformado.com/guides/tps/. You can also share Informed Immigrant’s Facebook post.

ICYMI:

  • USCIS is STILL accepting DACA renewals!

We need to make a HUGE push to make sure that those who have not yet applied to renew are encouraged to consult an immigration attorney or DOJ recognized community based organization and renew as soon as possible!

We ask that you remind your networks, members, friends and family that if they are eligible to renew their DACA, they should do so as soon as possible. You can find our DACA renewal guide here, as well as resources from trusted partners below.
