Community Advocate Internship(s)

The Undocumented Student Resource Center (USRC) Community Advocate (CA) inclusive internship program provides students a unique leadership opportunity to develop and execute programming designed to support, uplift, and affirm undocumented and immigrant student communities at UC Davis. Undocumented students with or without work authorization strongly encouraged to apply. 

Community Advocates will receive a stipend of up to $7,500 for first-time participants and up to $8,000 for returning participants during the 2025–26 academic year through their financial aid package

There are five CA internship roles available to apply for. You will be asked to rank your first and second choice in your application:

  • Campus Advocacy
  • Basic Needs
  • Mental Health/Wellness
  • Outreach and Student Engagement 
  • Political Education

Eligibility

All interested applicants must fulfill the following criteria to be considered for the role:

  • Currently enrolled UC Davis, full-time, degree-seeking undergraduate students 
  • Students must be in good academic standing and remain so during the 2025-2026 academic year
  • Interested applicants must be able to allocate 12-15 hours per week to engage in this internship
  • Incoming HIGH SCHOOL, and first-year TRANSFER students cannot apply at this time (If you will be a second year next year, you are eligible to apply).  
  • Preference will be given to first-time applicants who are not currently serving on any other on/off campus leadership roles (SVCC/DSIG/etc.) as we want to allow all students to further expand their professional development and leadership skills.

Community Advocate Internship Position Description

UC Immigrant Legal Services Internship

This opportunity in collaboration with our partner organization, the UC Immigrant Legal Services Center (UCIMM). This internship experience will provide a student with a unique opportunity to participate in providing services and support for the undocumented immigrant and larger UC Davis communities. Undocumented students with or without work authorization strongly encouraged to apply. 

UC Imm interns will receive a stipend of up to $7,500 during the 2025-26 academic year through their financial aid package. If you do not have this space in your financial aid package and are open to accepting a partial stipend or volunteering your time, please include this in your application. 

Eligibility

All interested applicants must fulfill the following criteria to be considered for the role:

  • UC Davis undergraduate students 
  • Must be an incoming fall 2026 or returning registered undergraduate student in good academic standing, making progress towards a degree at UC Davis throughout the appointed period of service.
  • Students taking at least 12 units per quarter
  • Students who can commit to this internship for the entire 2025-26 academic year
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills; technological experience using word processing and e-mail communication.
  • Must have current or previous experience working with and advocating for BIPOC, historically excluded, undocumented, and or immigrant communities.

UC Imm Internship Position Description

Front Desk Scholar Staff

The Undocumented Student Resource Center Front Desk Scholar Staff will provide staffing, administrative, and marketing support to the UC Davis undocumented immigrant community, and more. Under the supervision of the Resource Coordinator, the scholar staff will provide referrals and drop-in support to the community members that visit the center for various needs of support. They serve as representatives promoting the mission of the Undocumented Student Resource Center. Please note this position requires U.S. Work Authorization.
